- The first European manufacturer to offer 20 year warranty on its solar evacuated tubes -
World-leaders in solar technology, Kingspan Renewables, underlines its confidence in the quality of its new production facility by offering a 20 year warranty* for the first time. It's the first renewables company in Europe to deliver this guarantee on the durability of its evacuated tubes and highlights the commitment of the organisation, which recently opened its new state-of-the-art evacuated tube manufacturing plant in Portadown, Northern Ireland, to keep delivering award-winning performance.
While other competitor products may work quite well for the first few years, the materials used, result in deterioration of performance year after year. This is due to factors like unreliable seals, poor manifold quality or the use of reflectors that degrade over time. Kingspan Renewables, however, puts the emphasis on premium raw materials and production technology and is prepared to back this up with a warranty to match.
The new production facility doubles Kingspan Renewables' production capacity and is now recognised as the most modern facility of its kind in Europe. This highly sophisticated process combines leading-edge machinery and control systems to produce its Thermomax tubes to an even higher standard than before.
Shane Caher, Operations Director of Kingspan Renewables commented: "Since acquiring the Thermomax business in 2007 we had to overcome several challenges. The main was to bring our manufacturing technology to 21st century standards of quality, performance and reliability, while continuing to improve the products. But with the opening of our new and unique computerised facility, with sophisticated automated production, we now have the confidence to extend our warranty of our evacuated tubes to 20 years. We are fully convinced that the Thermomax products will last much longer than this."
Mr Caher adds: "As the European Union is increasingly focussed on 'performance over life' standards, Kingspan Renewables is leading the way in ensuring that our Thermomax tubes and our solar hot water cylinders have a minimum warranty of 20 years. This is real 'performance over life'."
Kingspan Solar, which is a unit of Kingspan Renewables, is part of Kingspan plc the Irish-based building materials group famous for its focus on sustainable and renewable building technologies.
This month Kingspan Renewables won the prize for the Best Green Building in Dubai from Constructionweekonline for the new solar cooling installation in the ESAB centre, with its partner ClimateWell AB, from Sweden. The company is also celebrating after its award-winning Thermomax Solar Heating Systems (DF100 and HP200/HP250) achieved the highly-sought after NSAI Agrément Certification, making it the first collector to do so in the Irish market.
Kingspan Renewables Shines its Award Winning Solutions on ESAB in Dubai
- Creating a cool formula that outshines the competition -
Dubai's first solar cooling plant is now in operation. Under the burning sun, ESAB's new office stays comfortably cool, using that burning sun as its source for Air Conditioning. Incorporating Kingspan Renewables' award-winning Thermomax solar thermal collectors, the new building is outshining the rest and has been named, in a landslide victory, the Best Green Building in the Middle East, by Construction Week Online. It is also on course to earn a Leadership and Environmental Design (LEED), a third-party accreditation system devised by the US Green Building Council.
Kingspan Renewables has supplied 160sqm of the solar vacuum tubes to the $800K project, installed by Scandinavian Cooling/Kylsystem. PaxKent Int. LLC has been the project coordinator and project manager, ClimateWell, has supplied the Solar Chillers into the Solar Cooling solution, in the new ESAB offices in Dubai.
ESAB, one of the world's leading suppliers of welding products, needed to expand into new offices in Dubai and was concerned both about the environment and the operating costs of the air conditioning needed. The solution was close at hand - use the burning sun to cool the building. Scandinavian Cooling designed and installed a solar cooling solution based on ClimateWell and Kingspan Renewables solar cooling system.
Solar collectors harness energy from the sun and this heat is then transported to and utilized by a heat energy exchange unit to produce a chilled water source. This is then used to cool the building.
Gerard Whelan, the Managing Director of Kingspan Renewables, says "The benefits of this system are great, as there is up to 65-70% saving on the energy costs associated with traditional air conditioning systems. Plus it is creates a better environment, as a result of reduced Co2 emissions.
"Overall, Kingspan Renewables has with this installation, proven our position as the quality leader in solar thermal collectors. This is a stepping stone towards massive global growth for Solar Cooling. The Thermomax system is the highest-performing evacuated system in the world."
With over 25 years of experience the Thermomax evacuated tube solar collector brand is firmly established as a world-leader. Kingspan Solar Thermomax collectors are amongst the highest performing collectors on the market. They provide superior performance whatever the weather. Kingspan Renewables has also launched this year, its latest development - Varisol. Using high performance polymer materials, Varisol, is the world's first completely modular vacuum tube solar collector. Each tube will now have a Varisol connector attached, allowing each Thermomax Direct Flow tube to simply click together.
Kingspan Renewables Ltd was established in 2007, when Kingspan Group plc acquired the Thermomax brand of solar vacuum tubes. Kingspan Renewables has offices in Germany, Poland, and Italy. It also opened its first branch, Kingspan Solar Inc, in Baltimore, USA last year.
